3M 420 flexible lead foil tape with rubber adhesive is an electrically and thermally conductive tape for use in masking, shielding, sealing and decorative applications. Lead tape resists flame, moisture, weather, U.V. degradation, chemicals and performs over a wide variety of temperatures. Lead foil tape is acid resistant, ideal in the surface finishing industry for electroplating, anodizing and chemical milling masking applications. Plastic plating tapes often result in build-up at the stop-off line of the tape resulting in additional grinding; the lead foil backing can be burnished to fully cover the adhesive and allow full contact for uniform plating, the electrically conductive “thieving” action of lead foil tape eliminates metal plating edge build-up at the stop-off line creating an overall smooth surface. Lead foil tape offers good initial grab and a long-lasting bond that removes cleanly from most surfaces; use in the medical, aerospace, industrial and security industries as a radiation barrier for x-ray equipment; ideal for masking x-ray plates and sealing seams and joints between shielding panels in low energy x-ray applications. Lead foil tape works as a marker or locator for x-ray inspection operations.
